When we read, it's important that we ask ourselves questions to help us understand what we are reading about.

ELA

This week we will continue to learn how to find the theme in a story. Remember that a theme is the message, a lesson or an idea about life that the writer wants us to learn from the story.  There are many common themes that we can learn from stories. We can learn about love, being brave, death, happiness among others. People see themes that relate to their own life experiences. Everyone will see different themes in what we view or read based on our own personal experiences. So a theme is subjective, meaning that it depends on you.

Questions to ask yourself as you watch:

What does the character like doing?
What is a problem for the character?
What does the character think/do about the problem?





Science:

This week we will continue learning about the human body and the organs systems that keep it alive. Our bodies are kept alive  through homeostasis. This means that our bodies work to keep what is happening inside them the same all the time. This can be our body temperature or even how much water is in our bodies.

Social Studies



This week we will continue to learn about the Great Empire of Ghana in Africa. One thing that this Empire was known for was trading.  This means that people paid for good and services  with something similar to money. We will watch and learn about how the Empire rose, how long it lasted and what factors made it fall. T
